day 290: "who's there?". was out doing laundry in the garage and noticed the condensation on the windows. a balmy 68 inside and 33 outside! figured it would be a cool shot. my youngest daughter was "helping" and got freaked out that someone else was in the garage. i admit it is a bit creepy at times. so i went with the "intruder" shot a bit by setting the timer and hauling rump outside to place a palm on the window. i did this a few times to get the right vibe. eventually i had to shine a flashlight behind my hand to get it to pick up properly. i need to do a few less creepy shots as my wife is starting to complain!
day 276: "benchmark". today i cleaned my garage so i could actually get to the gym equipment. it is easy to fall into a "desk job/cheesesteak meal plan" mode and feel the slow down. the next step is to actually USE the equipment.
day 202: "objects may appear smaller than actual size". today i got my lazy rump out to the garage to work out. it was overcast plus i was listening to the cure's "staring at the sea–the singles" (note: NOT good workout music!) so the workout was not really that high energy. it was like flash-backing to the 80's except now i am not as strong as i was or as thin. i liked this shot because the dumbbell looks like a miniature and the colors were accurate to the overcast day.
day 143: "deconstruct". after weeks of promising my son to help him paint his bike i finally delivered... sort of. something magical about taking something apart. we, the males, never change. we take things apart, are fascinated with fire, love zombie movies and any movie with clint eastwood in it... well, not that one with the bridge in the title.
day 135: "you need it, i got it". on my round of chores today we made a stop by pop pop's. i just had to grab a quick shot of his garage! i could spend half a day in here staging shots but would run the risk of needing a search party to pull me out. pop pop's view on "collecting" is "ya never know when someone will need..." — fill in the blank. now if we could just figure out an inventory system!
day 85: we set up in the garage. hung a tarp as a back drop. set up two cheap home depot lights to the left and a nikon sb24 to the right. adam kept asking "dad, are there any spiders in here?". by this you know that my garage is not the most maintained zone! our garage is also our gym. basically a multi-purpose spider terrarium.
day 50: a shot of my garage gym. this is what i should be doing this evening but i am going to slack. i cleaned up the garage with the goal of working out pre-summer but life gets in the way! or is that just a cop out?
