"rear window". pictured is the back window of my wife's grandfather's house. i instantly liked the simplicity of the pane-less window breaking up the monotony of the horizontal siding. the shadows and reflections added some organic interest to a somewhat geometric shot. in lightroom i messed with some of the color sliders to punch this a bit and punched the vibrance to +10.
i ran a lightroom preset over this (matt's vintage new york - 01 dark) and then jumped to photoshop and duplicated the layer, set it to multiply and ran a gaussian blur filter at 7. finally i erased around the eyes and some hair on the multiply layer. today my wife's grandmother passed away so i was busy trying to keep her busy... what better way than under several hot lights! she puts up with a lot from me!
"sweep". i try to avoid cliche seasonally shots unless i can pin a specific reason or need to document a "feeling" at a specific time. this was simply and attempt to do something restrictive and more simplistic. the original was bright yellow leaves and deep blue sky. i liked the sweep of the branches and the pattern feels like cracks to me. not really digging this shot but hoping for some suggestions.
"breaking the surface". attempt as capturing an overcast, cold wet day.
"blocks and balls" or "cabin fever". pictured is the side of New Jersey fitness (formally World of Fitness a.k.a. World of Fungus). this grabbed my attention due to the swiss balls appearing to be crowding to the window for a view. this is one of those shots where i am just not sure how far to push the lights and darks. it was overcast so this fits i suppose.
REVISED - "blocks and balls" or "cabin fever". based on great feedback i added back in the color to the swiss balls and it works much better.
