cornfu > day 329: "closed". one of my kids magnet-graffitied the door that leads to the garage/gym. lately it has been 20 degrees past this door! i assume my wife's repeated "keep that door shut" must have had an impact on them!
cornfu > day 328: "abstract tuesday". just plain ol' tapped out of ideas today.
cornfu > day 327: "nurks". my buddy nurko striking a pose. after accidentally breaking my wireless flash trigger and being too lazy to set up a shot i am running with a photo i took earlier today of a coworker.
cornfu > day 326: "luchador mask - 2nd attempt". got a bit more detailed with the trim and the lace-up back but picked the wrong fabric for the mask itself. this evening was fun as my wife and older daughter joined in the fray and did some creative sewing as well. i have to admit these masks are a bit creepy. my cat thought so after i spent a few minutes chasing her through the house wearing the mask. and this is when i truly realized i had picked the wrong material. it was like having my face sanded off.
cornfu > day 325: "luchador mask - first attempt". the family and i went to "cowtown" this morning (a big flea market). while there i spotted a vendor selling luchador masks. so i found a pattern for the mask online and attempted to sew my own (with patient help from my wife!). the mask worked out well but not so great on the trim around the eyes, nose and mouth. this first attempt was to see if the pattern i found here was a close fit. i plan on making a more elaborate mask that will appear in later photos.
cornfu > day 324: "second wind". minutes before my youngest daughter was rubbing her eyes and almost down for the count. then out of nowhere she went nuts. of course the wife was more than happy to return the craziness.
cornfu > day 323: "on the axe". my wife is addicted to guitar hero. and i think i wrecked her last gig when my flash went off and she missed a few notes! i felt like paparazzi. heheh!
cornfu > day 322: "5". my buddy wakes up when everyone else checks out. she runs like mad through our house while we all sleep. i got home late and was a bit burned out and 5 cheered me up with her non-stop energy and her "stalk" mode. she basically gets behind doors or chairs and then lunges at me when i pass by. and, yes, her name is "5".
cornfu > day 321: "what lies beneath". we put Christmas decorations away this afternoon which freed up my garage (a.k.a laundry room, gym, storage, place to hang skulls on the wall). i spotted the ever vigilant hanging deer skull and liked the contrasting texture of the skull versus cinderblock. technically both surfaces are quite porous but at different scales. i also liked how the plates of the skull fuse together much like how cinderblocks are fused together with mortar even though it is hard to see the wall with the close crop. my initial shots were further out and included a mirror with some cool reflections but i thought the close crop had better visual interest.
