cornfu > day 86: today was my friend kel's birthday. he is a very humble yet uber smart guy and great to work with. in this photo he is taking a photo of a cake we got him that had a cartoon character of himself on it. the cartoon was actually taken from a comic book that a friend of his previously drew. that friend had passed away from cancer in his late 30's. one of those bitter sweet/sad moments. happy birthday, kel! oh, if you look close you can see my buddy kev reflected in the flat screen. that dude sleeps with a camera!
cornfu > day 85: we set up in the garage. hung a tarp as a back drop. set up two cheap home depot lights to the left and a nikon sb24 to the right. adam kept asking "dad, are there any spiders in here?". by this you know that my garage is not the most maintained zone! our garage is also our gym. basically a multi-purpose spider terrarium.
cornfu > day 84: of hair and straw. the macro makes the most mundane look interesting. an easy out for photo of the day.
cornfu > day 83: pry off—very busy tonight doing work work. so tonight is toy monkey with beer cap on head. this is how i feel at times.
cornfu > day 82: the magic of duct tape! nerds make ties, belts and wallets with it... rednecks re-attach mufflers with it. this took about half an hour to make and about 4 feet of duct tape. my canon rebel had a bit of trouble focusing on the tape... or maybe it didn't really want to. i think the reflective surface gave the autofocus a bit of trouble. since this is an odd item i went with an odd angle. not sure if i dig the composition.
cornfu > day 81: happy mother's day! today the kids and i made duct tape roses. quite fun and the results aren't too bad. now my kids all want duct tape. prob is that i feel a bit apprehensive about a mass purchase of duct tape since everyone knows duct tape is useless for duct work and ends up in trunks of cars owned by psychopaths! i guess you only get flagged if you get rolls of tape AND a tarp.
cornfu > day 80: wife and i took our spawn to the baltimore aquarium today. it was a great time watching the kids expressions as dad tried to not burst into profanity in downtown baltimore traffic. a few drivers today were in "i don't have turn signals but feel totally cool about drifting into other lanes" mode. another prob is the variable speed group — going from 65 mph to 30 and back to 65. pick a speed and pick a lane. my kids LOVE the aquarium and we are sure to return. most of my photos there were blurry and full of noise. all in all it was a fine time!
cornfu > day 79: secret message. actually, no message... just time spent shredding documents so the government can't go through my trash and fine me for all the junk mail i receive, thus, increasing my carbon footprint. i really just like to send junk through the paper shredder! hours of mindless fun!
cornfu > day 78: central park school 4th grade classroom. the infamous mrs. short's classroom. my oldest son spent many a class here last year getting told to be quiet! "your son is a great kid but he REALLY likes to talk" was a phrase we heard often from her. this photo was taken as we worked our way through an art open house where the school hosts this years art projects including pieces from previous years. central park was built in 1958. i may post a few other shots of the open house in the misc. gallery.
