cornfu > day 194: we took a trip to the ocean city boardwalk today since the weather was 64 and overcast with a breeze. later on we did brave the water which wasn't actually all that bad. sunny or not, it is still vacation! i have no idea who the people pictured are... i was in "point and shoot" mode.
cornfu > day 193: "mode of transportation". there are thousands of these low-tech bikes around ocean city. thos shot reminds me of the horses tied to posts outside of a saloon. the photos today were sparse as i spent most of the day getting smashed and rolled by waves. i assume the waves are a direct result of tropical storm danny.
cornfu > day 192: "vacation". day one at Ocean City, New Jersey for our summer vacation! i will try to post some shots every day but am dependent on snaking off some spotty wifi. the connection comes and goes. pictured here is a sweet sand castle we spotted on a walk up the beach this evening.
cornfu > day 191: "guardian". when 5 (the cat's actual name) isn't busy unrolling toilet paper, getting on the kitchen table or stalking the kids, she actually is a nice cat. no, really.
cornfu > day 190: "my boo". i was messing with a newly purchased (thanks, tooch!) Cactus PT-04 wireless flash trigger. way cheaper than a pocket wizard and works well for me. my wifey was kind enough to be my target. mind you that she hates to have her photo taken. i bounced a flash off of an umbrella about 6 feet away and had the flash set to 1/4 power and at 105mm—nothing fancy.
cornfu > day 189 - 3 more days until i won't be wearing jeans for a full week. we are heading to ocean city, nj to soak up sun rays and avoid stepping on syringes in the sand!
cornfu > day 188: a shot of my buddy. my son was a good sport as i had him stand in a mosquito-infested front yard while i tried to set up an umbrella and off camera flash. i took quite a few shots but this one had the most natural expression. the other shots all looked like mug shots. they get to a certain age and then you can forget taking a natural expression shot. you have to catch them off guard. guess the mosquitoes worked in my favor... unless we both end up with malaria!
cornfu > day 187: "Baja corn". working late and wearing down. hence, the shot of supper.
cornfu > day 186: "a whole lot of hurt". got a heads up from my son that there was a "hole full of bees". grabbed the macro and a ladder and got close and personal. i also received a "hello" from one of the yellows on my finger. my daughter screamed after another one bounced into my back and it appeared that i was going fall off the ladder in a full-on 3 year old girl scream or burst into profanity. after the photos, i returned fire to clear the hostile. final count: 9 yellows down, 5 escaped, 1 human stung. the yellow jacket is actually from the wasp family and only the females can sting... and roach killer works really well to clear a zone of angry yellow jackets.
